Aaaah… Mediterranean at last

Some serious relaxation is about to take place and it’s about time, too. The timing is in fact perfect to stop, do nothing, see nothing and forget about the steering wheel and hot asphalt for a while. And by the way, when I say hot, I mean it: yesterday it surged up to 38 in Alcañiz (although they told us it was a normal day and it can easily be hotter). Ever sat in a car that had been standing in 38 degrees? The climate control clearly panicked for a while there.

Arriving to a place where I knew where to go without the GPS was a pleasant change. The same hotel is still owned by the same nice family and I think I recognize half of the street vendors of frankly questionable goods and services on the promenade above the beaches. It is like we never left, and it is good to be here again.

The bulk of the crowd are Spanish families, sprinkled by French and some Scandinavians. Even the omnipresent Russians are scarce. It is fun trying to guess who is who around the swimming pool, although the task is appropriately easy for a hot afternoon.
